Living in Rome

Andy Temeyer visited the Treynor Optimist Club to show pictures and sketches of his trip to Rome, Italy, as part of his education as an architectural student at Iowa State University. Andy is a 2004 graduate of Treynor High School.
From January until May 2008, Andy and some fellow students and instructors went to Europe to learn about architecture and life styles there. Their base of operations was Rome, Italy, but they traveled through much of Europe as part of their study.
One of the school projects Andy had was to document the water quality in a Gypsy camp. The Gypsies were exiled from Sarajevo, Bosnia and lived in 10 foot by 20 foot wooden boxes in the camp. They are not allowed to own any property, since they are basically unwelcome guests. The water comes from a well, but much of it is lost before it gets to the holding tanks. There is trash everywhere, so sanitary conditions are poor.
Andy is working for the Army Corp of Engineers. He is currently working on a project in Fort Carson, Colorado. He is living in Council Bluffs in a house he remodeled with assistance from his father.
